More than a coincidence ??
Mothers in the small village of Redbourn in Hertfordshire
are beginning to wonder whether it's the tea they drink. The
village currently boasts 6 sets of twins and triplets between
the ages of 0 and 3, plus more expected in November. Other
sets born there have moved away to neighbouring villages,
increasing the total in the overall area. Nearby St. Albans
is also known to have a high rate of twin births, but not
as a result of fertility treatment.
Twinsclub UK reader Sam Matton emailed us with this information,
and we want to know if there is a similar high occurrence
of multiple births where you live. Then we can contact the
water companies and demand to know just exactly what it is
they're putting in the water!!!
My name is Anita and I thought you might like to hear about
the very small town I live in, Coggeshall Essex.
We seem to have had a very strange last year or so. We now
have 6 sets of twins all under a year and still have one more
set due in April. Of the 6 sets we have only just got a mixed
set. The rest were all boys.
We think it must have something to do with the water too (or
it may be the ley lines we have that cross in the village).
I am told that Coggeshall has a history of twins, but not
normally this many in one year.
We have had to warn the school's to get ready for a jump
in number's so that they are ready for four years time! I
think if I ever try to have another go at having children,
I'M MOVING. I don't want a second set!
It's going on in Cornwall too!!
After reading the above, I thought I would let you know of
the amazing amount of twins that are in Cornwall.
When finding out that we were expecting twins I was obviously
delighted, and thought it quite unusual. However the consultant
actually said that it appears to be very common in Cornwall,
and they were actually looking into it.
Since having twins I have met numerous other sets, in our
local town alone there were four sets of identical boys that
were born within three weeks of each other, and does not include
other sets and different towns and different areas. Our local
twins club rang our local and only maternity hospital, and
they informed us that last year 55 sets were born there,(
and with no IVF offered in the county).
At the top end of Cornwall the mums go to a hospital in Devon
to deliver so our statistics don't include them either.
I cannot usually go to a local shop without seeing a set of
twins, which is quite amazing, as when we went on holiday
to France this year we travelled over 1500 miles and visited
a different town everyday and we did not encounter any twins
at all!! In fact we were looked upon quite strangely!
I would love to find out more on this subject, and thanks
for this English website for twins.

Do you think your area has an unusually high rate of twins/multiple
births ? Are you living in the twin capital of the UK
??!! Email us
now and we'll add your thoughts on the matter to the above.
