Famous for 5 minutes !
Read on for some Twinsclubbers who have had their 5 minutes of
fame - and how they got on...
Goldplated, Channel 4
Hi, my twins names are Isabelle & Niamh, they had their 15 minutes
of fames courtesy of the Channel 4 programme Goldplated which aired
October 2006 - December 2006. The nursery where my girls attend
were contacted by the production company looking for twins around
6 months old, although mine were 9 months old they are small so
could carry off a 6 month old!!!
The model agency came to my house that afternoon to take photographs
of them, and called back the following day to say they wanted to
use them. I was a little apprehensive to begin with becauase I didn't
know much about the programme, but we went ahead with it and started
filming the following month.
When
we turned up on the first day, it was boiling hot and the girls
had to wear jeans ( they played baby Jonny - a boy )!! Everyone
on set was brilliant with them. Isabelle & Niamh had them eating
out of their hands, especially Kelly Harrison who played mum, and
Jaime Whinstone who played the wicked stepsister!
The more placid twin, Isabelle did 99% of the filming, I say she
should have got the bigger cut of the filming fees. I'm sure she
will agree in years to come!! They are now signed up with an agency
in Manchester so keep your eyes peeled, they may crop up on Coronation
Street in the future!!
Where The Heart Is..
My name is Anne-Marie, and mum to twins Millie and Mollly. They
were quite a surprise, as I was on the pill when I fell pregnant.
At my 24 week scan they were diagnosed with TTTS, and were going
to be delivered there and then, but with a lot of hospital visits
and scans and checks, managed to keep them in situ until 35 weeks.
When the girls were two weeks old, we had a phone call from my
midwife to say that she had had a call from an agency asking if
she knew of anyone with newborn identical twins. Needless to say
she thought of me, and we were signed over the phone that day by
the agency, who wanted the girls originally for the role of baby
Sarag Dingle in Emmerdale. However, that went out of the window
within a day as the role of baby Rachel in Where the Heart Is came
up, and they were cast.
The first day we were on set was nerve racking to say the least,
as it was the day before the girls' actual due date! We were met
by the 2nd assistant director, and shown into our own little room.
The girls were fed, and changed into their outfits, and then called
onto set. The first person we met was Lesley Dunlop, who plays Anna
Kirkwall, the baby's grandma. She was so lovely, and cooed over
the girls like mad! In the end, it was hard to stop her from running
off with them! The girls were a hit with the cast, including guest
star Edward "Equiliser' Woodward, Andy Paul, Samantha Giles, Denise
Van Outen, Philip Middlemiss.
Unfortunately, on the last day of filming, the girls were admitted
to hospital with bronchilitis, and Millie was on oxygen for 4 days.
But do you know, Andy Paul rang everyday to find out how they were?
That was so nice, that someone famous would be so worried about
OUR children. Lesley Dunlop lives up the road, and we have seen
her a few times in passing - normally in the car, but she was talking
to my sister in the supermarket the otherday, as my nephew, James,
had started to chat her up! Lucy explained that she was 'the twins''
auntie, and Lesley said she couldn't wait to see them again, and
to pass on her love to us all.
It's
lovely that she still remembers us and, especially the girls! We
start filming for the next series next week! The girls have also
made appearances on The Royal, with ex Corrie Chris Gascoyne (Peter
Barlow), Bodies with Max Beesley, and are currently in Shameless,
with David Threlfall. Even my son has gotten bitten by the bug!
He played Roger Hurley's son in Bodies, and has just auditioned
for the new Kay Mellor series!!! We have everything on video that
they have all been in, and clippings from the front page of the
local paper, when they did an article on the girls. How lucky are
we?

Why you should see ...Nanny McPhee
2005 saw the release of the Universal Pictures feature film, Nanny
McPhee starring Emma Thomspon, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Celia
Imrie, Imelda Stauton and Derek Jacobi, to name-drop a few. The
story is about a father of 7 unruly children, the youngest of whom
are played by identical twins Hebe and Zinnia Thomas. Their mum
Susanne Thomas is well-known on our forums as Zan, an avid Twinsclubber.
Susanne told how the girls got the job in the first place.
"There was an advert sent to all the twins clubs (I think)"
explained Susanne, "and we got one from the Central London
twins club. The girls were only 8 months old so when we went to
the audition, they couldn't DO anything audition-y but that didn't
seem to matter. They just wanted 2 who lived in london and looked
the same I think. We never met the casting woman as far as I know
(there were lots of people there and it was difficult to know who
did what)".
"After the filming and a long wait to see whether anything
would come of it, the invitation came through to attend the premier
which was very exciting. The girls looked divine in dresses provided
for us by an exclusive childrens clothes shop - I on the other hand
pitched up severely underdressed in just a t-shirt and a skirt -
other mums there were in their ball gowns! I spent the whole of
the film looking out for the girls - we could tell which one it
was MOST of the time, but there were moments when none of us were
sure!
We had great fun doing it, it was a fantastic experience for them
to be reminded of later in life, and I still feel pathetically tearful
when the trailer comes on tv because they look so sweeeet. Sadly
however I fear it was their first and last starring role as I don't
think they'd want to do it now they are older - I doubt it would
be possible to make my two-year olds do ANYTHING! They don't have
an agent and I'm sure I'm not cut out to be a pushy showbiz mother,
some of the other parents were actually terrifying!"

ITV's This Morning
Hi, My name's Bobbie Roper and my twins Lewis and Jack were born
at just 25 weeks and 6 days, due to my waters breaking on Twin 1.
Lewis and Jack made their grand appearance on 18th October 2003,
Lewis weighed 1lb 12oz and was the poorlier of the two, (not that
you would know now!) and Jack weighed 1lb 14oz. They were both in
hospital for 11 weeks, 8 weeks in Walsgrave Hospital at Coventry
and 3 weeks at George Elliot at Nuneaton. They were transferred
to the George Elliot due to a couple of lots of triplets being born
so the hospital had to do a quick evaluation, and I think because
we could both drive that's why we were moved. We werenn't very happy
but the decision was out of our hands.
After the boys came home from hospital, I placed a notice in our
local paper, the Coventry Evening Telegraph, thanking the doctors
and nurses for all they had done. The paper's Editorial department
soon got to hear of it and wanted to do a story on us, which we
went ahead with. Then Central News picked it up (I assume out of
the Telegraph), and wanted to feature us on Central News. Then a
few days later our local paper the Rugby Advertiser came knocking
on the door, so again so again we appeared in the paper. We did
get pointed at in the street, and you could see people nudging each
other when they saw us coming. This got worse after all our TV appearances.
A few weeks later we received a letter from a lady from a magazine/TV
agency, I assume she must have looked through the paper too and
she said she might be able to get us a feature in a magazine but
this never happened. Then in April 04 she emailed me and said would
we like to go on This Morning. We jumped at the chance and were
sent train tickets to go to Euston the night before the show. There,
we were picked up by chauffer and taken to a rather nice hotel where
we had a lovely 3 course meal, all courtesy of the TV Company.
We were picked up fairly early the next morning and taken straight
to the studio where it was all very exciting. We were sat in a room
where you could see a fair few famous faces milling around having
food and tea/coffee, we were talked through what was going to happen,
Fern even came to have a quick chat before we went on, we both had
our hair and makeup done. Yes my Husband Andy has to have makeup
on too, actually made him look much better and got rid of all the
blotches in his face!
We were going to be first on the show, and were told by the crew
if the boys played up whilst we were live on TV just to stay seated.
Things were going great until Lewis started crying. Andy had him
and was getting a bit stressed not knowing what to do, but Lewis
was eventually taken from Andy off screen by Phillip Schofield to
calm him down. Fern took the lead and did all the talking and mainly
interviewed me, and after it was all over we were taken by chauffer
back to Euston and then home.
On the boys first birthday Central news/Coventry Evening Telegraph
rang us again and wanted to do a follow up story on the boys progress
which they did and I can only assume that the same thing may happen
again on their 2nd birthday. I have paper clippings of all our newspaper
appearances, which I think is a lovely thing to be able to pass
on to the boys.
